International Committee for the History of the Second World War
The International Committee for the History of the Second World War was created in 1967 with the aim of facilitating scholarly cooperation between institutions and scholars in all parts of the world who are researching the history of the Second World War. It continues to provide a forum in which scholars from diverse cultures can collaborate, across countries and regions in research on this global conflict.
The Committee is affiliated to the International Committee of Historical Sciences (ICHS) and organizes sessions devoted to the history of the Second World War at the Congresses of ICHS, held every five years, with regional activities in the intervening years.
The International Committee is constituted by national committees, who contribute an annual fee to cover its expenses, but it addresses itself to the community of World War II historians at large. Individual scholars working on any aspect of the history of the Second World War are welcome to take part in any ICSHWW activity, including conferences.
This web site, inaugurated in January 2001 and renewed in 2011 and 2014, provides an online location for communication about the activities of the Committee, for the announcement of the scientific events which it organises, for the circulation of papers presented on these occasions and for the publication of country reports and Bureau bibliographies.
